The title ‘Twin Melodies’ refers to the coming together of traditional Hindustani classical music and modern Indo-Western fusion music. Shruti respects her father’s classical tradition but also wishes to explore contemporary music. The play shows that tradition and modernity need not oppose each other. They can exist together and create something beautiful. Nabin eventually understands this and supports Shruti’s choice. Thus, the “twin melodies” symbolise two musical traditions and two generations finding harmony.
