If something is wrong with the cheque drawing or presentation, the bank has the right to refuse payment. If a cheque is delivered that is past due, the drawer might not have remembered to sign it, or the amount may differ in words and figures. The bank may dishonour the cheque and refuse to pay the cheque if any such mistake is made. Therefore "A bank can refuse the payment of a cheque".
