पर्याय

• run back to their homes.

• weep tears of repentance into the river.

Answer 1

In order to intermit the plague, the commoners are instructed to run back home and pray to the gods.

Explanation:

Marullus tells the commoners to go home and pray to the gods to prevent punishment or plague. He believes their ingratitude towards Pompey and sudden praise of Caesar may bring divine punishment upon them.
