In life we face many choices and we are required to make decisions. For instance, you will soon be faced with the choices of different subjects and careers. Like what Steve Jobs has explained, the decisions we make in life, if based on conviction, interest and gut feeling, help us achieve our dreams. When we choose a path based on our instinct and interest, we will realize in future how important that decision was in shaping our life. This is what Jobs refers to as ‘connecting the dots’:

• The Unseen Connections: You might feel hesitant to take up an unconventional hobby, a unique language, or a creative class because it doesn’t align with a traditional ‘high-paying’ career. But as Jobs proved, these unique choices are the exact ‘dots’ that will make you stand out in the future. A coder who also understands design, or a business student who understands psychology, brings a unique edge to the world that others cannot match.
• Trusting the Process: ‘Connecting the dots’ means having the faith that your curiosity is guiding you in the right direction. You don’t need to have your entire life figured out at age 15 or 16. You only need to make the next choice with absolute sincerity and interest.
