Substitute the given values: 152 + 92 + BC2

Calculate BC: BC = `sqrt(15^2 - 9^2)`

= `sqrt(225 - 81)`

= `sqrt(144)`

= 12 cm

Since D is the mid-point of AB, DB = `1/2` × AB = `1/2` × 9 = 4.5 cm

Since DE || BC and D is the midpoint of AB, E must be the midpoint of AC by the converse of the Midpoint Theorem.
