उत्तर
- As a Village Development Officer, I would like to highlight the importance of formal sources of credit such as banks and cooperative societies.
- Formal credit sources are important because they offer loans at reasonable interest rates, unlike informal lenders such as money lenders who charge extremely high rates. When farmers depend on informal credit, a major portion of their income goes into loan repayment, leaving very little for daily needs. In many cases, the repayment amount becomes more than the borrower’s income, trapping them in a cycle of debt.
- In contrast, loans from banks and cooperative societies are cheaper and more secure. These loans enable farmers to invest in better farming practices, increase productivity, and improve their standard of living. Formal credit can also help farmers start small businesses, benefiting both their families and the overall development of the village.
