उत्तर

If there were no Himalayas, the climate of India would be significantly different. The Himalayan mountain range acts as a climatic barrier that protects India from the cold Siberian winds in winter, keeping northern India warmer than it otherwise would be. Without the Himalayas, the cold winds from Central Asia would sweep across the Indian plains, causing much colder winters.

Furthermore, the Himalayas block the monsoon winds from going northward, forcing them to shed most of their moisture over the Indian subcontinent, resulting in abundant rainfall. Without this barrier, the monsoon winds might pass over India with reduced rainfall, causing a drier climate in central and northern India.

The absence of the Himalayas would also lead to the intrusion of cold air from Central Asia in winter and hot air from the desert regions, causing greater temperature extremes with hotter summers and colder winters.

Without the Himalayas, India would experience colder winters, reduced monsoon rainfall, and more extreme temperature variations, leading to a drier and harsher climate over much of the country.
