Identify teachers in your school or vicinity who may have performed election duty. Invite them to your class to share their experiences.

We invited two teachers from our school, Mrs. Sunita Sharma and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, who had performed election duty during the 2024 General Elections, to share their experiences with our class. Mrs. Sharma was assigned to a rural polling station and explained how she was trained to operate EVMs and VVPATs. She also spoke about the difficulties of reaching remote areas and making sure every voter could cast their vote.

Mr. Kumar worked at an urban polling station and described how the election team ensured that the voting process went smoothly. He also mentioned the special facilities provided to elderly voters and persons with disabilities, such as ramps and Braille slips. Both teachers said that although election duty was tiring, it gave them a great sense of responsibility and pride. Their experiences helped us understand the importance of a well-organised and fair electoral process in a democracy.
