उत्तर
Prop-1-ene (CH3 – CH = CH2) is treated with hydrogen bromide (HBr) in the presence of organic peroxide. Due to the peroxide effect (Kharasch effect), the addition follows the anti-Markovnikov rule. As a result, bromine attaches to the terminal carbon, giving 1-bromopropane (CH3 – CH2 – CH2Br).
\[\ce{\underset{prop-1-ene}{CH3 - CH = CH2} + HBr ->[peroxide][] \underset{1-bromopropane}{CH3 - CH2 - CH2 - Br}}\]
