Procedure: Make a thin paste of the given potassium salt with concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl) on a clean platinum wire, and introduce it into a non-luminous Bunsen burner flame.
Observation: The flame will turn a characteristic lilac (pale violet) colour when viewed with the naked eye.
