उत्तर

H2SO4 is an oxidising agent.

For example, it oxidises

  1. Carbon to carbon dioxide.
    \[\ce{C_{(s)} + 2H2SO4 -> CO2_{(g)} + 2H2O_{(l)} + 2SO2}\]
  2. Sulphur to sulphur dioxide.
    \[\ce{S_{(s)} + H2SO4 -> 3SO2_{(g)} + 2H2O_{(l)}}\]
