उत्तर
Coastal climates are equable (moderate) because of the thermal properties of water and the influence of sea and land breezes. Water has a high heat capacity, meaning it heats up and cools down more slowly than land. During the day, the sea remains cooler than the land, creating a sea breeze that brings cooler air inland and moderates temperatures. At night, the land cools faster than the sea, causing a land breeze that carries relatively warmer air from the sea to the land. This continuous exchange prevents extreme highs and lows in temperature in coastal areas, making the climate mild and stable throughout the year. Additionally, the presence of large water bodies adds moisture to the air, often increasing humidity but further moderating temperature swings. Thus, coastal regions experience less variation in temperatures compared to inland areas, which results in an equable climate.
