उत्तर
- Maritime vs. Continental Location: Mumbai is a coastal city, located right on the shore of the Arabian Sea, hence it has a marine climate. Nagpur, on the other hand, is located deep into the Maharashtra region (India's geographical core), giving it an intense continental climate.
- Moderating Influence of the Sea: Because water heats and cools far slower than land, the Arabian Sea has a continual equalising influence on Mumbai’s temperature. This process generates daily land and sea breezes, keeping Mumbai from being very hot in the summer or extremely cold in the winter.
- Lack of Oceanic Influence in Nagpur: Nagpur is hundreds of kilometers from the ocean; hence, it receives no sea breezes. Without the sea's moderating impact, Nagpur’s land surface heats up quickly in the summer and cools down swiftly in the winter, resulting in severe temperature changes.
- High Humidity vs. Dry Air: Mumbai’s proximity to the sea results in high relative humidity year-round. Humid air retains heat more consistently and resists temperature fluctuations. In contrast, Nagpur has highly dry air for the most of the year (except during the monsoon), and dry air causes faster and more dramatic temperature fluctuations.
