उत्तर
Mediterranean lands are located between 30° and 40° latitude on the western sides of continents. During the winter season, the westerlies shift toward the equator and blow over these regions. The westerlies bring moist air from the oceans, causing cyclonic rainfall in winter. In summer, these regions come under the influence of dry subtropical high-pressure belts, so they remain mostly dry. Therefore, Mediterranean regions receive most of their rainfall in winter.
