The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is the primary organisation in charge of ensuring scientific storage for national food grain reserves, using its own network of covered godowns and modern steel silos. However, because seasonal harvest volumes consistently exceed FCI’s own storage capacity, the company frequently hires additional warehousing space from the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), various State Warehousing Corporations (SWC), and private investors through government schemes such as the Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee (PEG) initiative.
