उत्तर
Doldrums is a low pressure belt because it lies near the Equator, where the sun’s rays are nearly vertical throughout the year.
This intense heating causes:
-
Warm air to rise rapidly, creating a zone of low pressure.
-
The rising air leads to cloud formation and frequent rainfall, but very little horizontal air movement (wind).
As a result, this equatorial region experiences calm conditions, light variable winds, and is known as the Doldrums,a low-pressure belt with little surface wind.
