3x2 – 5x – 2 = 0
Here a = 3, b = -5, c = -2
∴ D = b2 - 4ac
= (-5)2 - 4 x 3 x (-2)
= 25 + 24
= 49
∴ Discriminant = 49
∴ D > 0
∵ Roots are real and distinct.
