उत्तर
A crouch start is used in sprint races with starting blocks. It has three types:
- Bunch or bullet start: The blocks are close together. The distance from the starting line to the blocks is 16–19 inches, and the distance between the blocks is 8–11 inches. The crouched position is relatively unstable, helping the athlete leave the blocks quickly.
- Medium start: The blocks are set 15–18 inches from the starting line and 15–20 inches apart. The rear knee and the arch of the front foot are aligned. The shoulders and hips are nearly at the same height. This is considered the best and most commonly used start.
- Elongated start: The blocks are set 11–14 inches from the starting line and 25–29 inches apart. The rear knee is placed near the heel of the front foot.
