उत्तर

Weight training is a method of strength training in which weights or other forms of resistance are used to develop strength, endurance and muscle size. Its procedure involves manipulating the following factors:

  1. Repetitions (Reps): The number of times an exercise movement is performed continuously without rest.
  2. Sets: A group of repetitions followed by a period of rest. For example, 3 sets of 10 reps means performing 10 repetitions three times, with rest between each set.
  3. Tempo: The speed at which an exercise movement is performed. A slower tempo generally makes the exercise more difficult.
  4. Rest: Adequate rest is provided between sets. The duration of rest varies according to the type and purpose of training.
  5. Weight/Resistance: The amount of weight used is selected according to the individual's training goal. Fewer repetitions are generally performed with heavier weights when developing maximum strength.
  6. Type of Equipment: Different equipment such as dumbbells, barbells, weight machines, pulleys and weight stacks can be used. Body weight can also provide resistance in exercises such as push-ups and chin-ups.
