The act or result of something becoming stuck, blocked, or forcefully squeezed; mechanically, parts “jam” when they can’t move past one another; in communications, jamming is the deliberate transmission of interfering signals to disrupt radio or wireless links; in music, “jamming” means informal, improvised playing together; and in sports/first‑aid usage it can describe forcefully striking or pressing the body against a hard surface (which can produce a contusion or bruise).
