उत्तर
The Twenty-Four Second Rule states that a team must attempt a shot within 24 seconds of gaining possession of the ball. This rule helps to keep the game fast-paced and prevents time-wasting.
Originally introduced in the NBA in 1954, and adopted by FIBA with a 24-second limit in 2000, this rule is now used worldwide.
A valid shot must:
- Be released before the 24-second buzzer.
- Touch the ring or enter the basket after release.
If the shot is not taken within 24 seconds or misses the ring completely, it’s a violation, and the ball is awarded to the opponent.
Three signals of shot clock violation:
- Shot clock shows 0.0.
- A distinct buzzer sounds.
- A yellow light glows on the backboard.
If the shot is released before the buzzer and enters the basket or hits the ring, it is valid.
