उत्तर
In this reaction, arene diazonium salts undergo a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The reaction involves displacement of the diazo group by the – Cl/– Br atom. The reaction can be represented as,
\[\ce{Ar - N^+_2 X- ->[Cu powder][HX] Ar - X + N2 (X = -Cl, -Br)}\]
e.g. Preparation of chlorobenzene from benzene diazonium chloride.
