• Location: This small, pea-sized gland is located at the base of the brain, suspended below the hypothalamus, and is popularly called the "Master Gland".
• Secreted Hormones: The anterior lobe secretes Growth Hormone (GH), TSH, and ACTH, while the posterior lobe releases Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH) and Oxytocin.
• Main Functions: It controls structural skeletal growth and secretes tropic hormones that regulate the activities of all other endocrine glands.
• Disorders: The abnormal secretion of its hormones causes Dwarfism, Gigantism, and Acromegaly (Growth Hormone defects), as well as Diabetes Insipidus (ADH defect).
