The O.S. divided its services in the following three main areas:

1. Information Management (IM): Information Management provides facilities to store, retrieve, and modify information on different devices. The services offered under IM include:
   
   1. creating files or directories,
   2. opening files or browsing directories,
   3. deleting, copying, or closing files,
   4. changing the current working directory
2. Process Management (PM): Process management services are responsible for monitoring all active programs, known as processes. In multiuser operating systems, several users at different terminals may run different programs simultaneously. The operating system keeps track of all processes, schedules them, and dispatches them one after another.
3. Memory Management (MM): Memory management services maintain information about all memory locations. They decide the memory allocation policy and apply various techniques and algorithms to manage memory efficiently.
