उत्तर
The different types of warehouses are as follows:
- Private warehousing: Warehousing owned and managed by manufacturers or traders to store their own goods. Large businesses that require regular storage capacity build warehouses. Generally, these warehouses are constructed by farmers near their fields, by wholesalers and retailers near their business areas and by manufacturers near their factories to store their products.
- Public/commercial warehouses: These warehouses are established to provide storage facilities to the general public for a fee. It may be owned by an individual, a partnership, a company, etc.; such warehouses must obtain a licence from the government. They are generally located near railway stations, highways, airports, seaports, and similar facilities.
- Government warehouses: These warehouses are owned, managed, and controlled by the Central and State governments, public corporations, or local authorities. It is difficult for small traders, farmers, and businessmen to own warehouses, so government warehouses help them store their goods at a nominal fee.
- Bonded Warehouses: Bonded warehouses are licensed by the government for storing imported goods until the customs duty is not paid. They are located near the ports. They are either operated by the government or customs authorities. The goods are held in bond and cannot be released without payment of customs duty. Such warehouses are very useful to importers and exporters
- Duty-paid warehouses: If an importer faces any problem in the transportation of goods after making payment of duty, then goods can be stored at Duty Paid Warehouses. All duty-paid warehouses are public warehouses available to all importers, large or small. These warehouses are more useful for some businesses that re-export goods.
- Co-operative warehouses: These warehouses are owned, managed, and controlled by the co-operative societies. They provide warehousing facilities in rural areas. These types of warehouses are very useful for farmers and traders. They provide warehousing facilities at the most economical rates to members of the society and the public.
- Cold Storage warehouses: Cold storage facilities frequently store and preserve perishable goods like flowers, fish, eggs, meat, vegetables, fruits, pharmaceuticals, and dairy products. Products are stored in cold warehouses at low temperatures to maintain quality and freshness. These warehouses provide a year-round national and international supply of seasonal and perishable products. Cold storage facilities enable international trade in seasonal and perishable goods such as green peas and mangoes.
