Working:
An external machine rotates the axle. Electromagnetic induction causes an electric potential difference in the generator's armature coil as it rotates in the magnetic field. This generates a current, as shown by a galvanometer or the lightbulb's glow. The coil's sense of rotation determines the current's direction.
One brush in a DC generator is always in contact with the coil's rising arm while the other brush is in contact with the coil's falling arm in the magnetic field. As a result, the circuit's current always flows in the same direction and for as long as the coil rotates in the magnetic field.
