  1. The Rajasthan Plain (The Great Indian Desert)
    1. Lies west of the Aravallis in Rajasthan.
    2. Mostly a sandy, arid region with sand dunes (barchans) and saline lakes like Sambhar.
    3. Low rainfall (less than 25 cm) and scattered vegetation.
  2. The Punjab-Haryana Plain
    1. Formed by Indus and its tributaries (Satluj, Beas, Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum).
    2. Characterized by doabs (land between rivers) such as Bist-Jalandhar Doab, Bari Doab, etc.
    3. Known for intensive agriculture and canal irrigation.
  3. The Ganga Plain
    1. Spans Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
    2. Formed by the Ganga and its tributaries like the Yamuna, Ghaghara, Gandak and Kosi.
