उत्तर

  1. Legislative Powers: The Senate and the House of Representatives have equal legislative powers. It can introduce laws (excluding Money laws) and debate and amend them; it must also approve any law before it can be passed.
  2. Financial Powers: Although money bills are introduced in the House, the Senate can amend and influence their final form, thereby exerting indirect power over financial legislation.
  3. Executive Powers: The Senate can accept or reject Presidential appointments (such as ministers, ambassadors, and judges) and ratify international treaties with a two-thirds vote. It also shows the ability to declare war.
  4. Judicial Powers: It acts as a court for impeachment cases brought by the House. A two-thirds vote in the Senate is required to convict and remove a President, Vice President, or government executive.
  5. Constituent Powers: The Senate can propose and adopt constitutional modifications. A two-thirds majority in both houses is required, followed by ratification by three-fourths of all states.
  6. Electoral Powers: If no Vice-Presidential candidate receives a majority in the electoral college, the Senate chooses the vice president from among the top two nominees.
