उत्तर
Dr. James Naismith is widely recognized as the inventor of basketball. Naismith’s inspiration for basketball came from a childhood game he played outside his one-room schoolhouse called duck on a rock. The game involves tossing another rock at a “duck” on top of a huge rock. Naismith attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In 1891, James Naismith transferred to the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA from his position as McGill’s Athletic Director. This is where basketball originated. In Springfield, Naismith struggled to develop an indoor winter activity for students at the School for Christian Workers. He required a game suitable for indoor play in a limited space. The initial game used a soccer ball and two peach baskets for goals. Basketball was first debuted at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Basketball is now among the most popular sports worldwide.
