Opaque refers to a material that prevents an object from being seen at all.

E.g. - wood, marble.

Transculent is a material that allows an object to be viewed but not clearly.

E.g. Butter paper, frosted glass.

Transparent is a substance that allows an object to be seen plainly through it. 

E.g. Clean water, glass.
