  1. Sender: When the sender feels the desire for communication and an idea comes to him, the communication process starts. The message’s source, known as the sender or transmitter, wants to convey it for a specific reason. The sender could be an actor, writer, or speaker. He must have a clear idea of what he wishes to say in his thoughts.
  2. Encoding: The sender uses words, symbols, pictures, or gestures that the recipient can comprehend to convey his thoughts or facts. Encoding is the term for this step in the communication process. It also entails selecting the right media to convey the concept into a message that can be shared with others.
  3. Channel and Medium: The sender and the recipient are connected by a channel. For example, a college’s schedule is the means by which the instructor and students arrive at the same classroom at the same time. If the teacher goes to room number 21 and the students go to room number 12, there can be no contact. Channel and medium are not the same thing.
  4. Receiver: The recipient is the individual or group to whom the message is addressed. The recipient stands in for the message’s intended recipient. He could be a watcher, reader, or listener. He has an image of both the sender and himself, just like the sender.
  5. Decoding: The message’s words and symbols are translated into ideas by the recipient, who then interprets it to determine its meaning. This is the reverse of encoding and is referred to as decoding. The recipient will infer about the same meaning as intended by the sender if he is aware of the codes being employed and has a clear perception. The recipient should be able to mentally replicate the message exactly.
  6. Feedback: The recipient replies to the communication after it has been given meaning. He replies to the sender with his message. Feedback is the term for this communication flow that comes back. Communication cannot be considered complete until the sender receives the feedback.
