Football has two types of free kicks:
- Direct free kick: The player may kick the ball directly into the opponents’ goal and score. It is awarded for certain fouls, such as kicking, tripping, pushing, holding or deliberately handling an opponent’s ball.
- Indirect free kick: A goal can be scored only if the ball touches another player before entering the goal. It is awarded for offences such as dangerous play or certain goalkeeper violations.
