• There would be no clouds, rain or weather, as the atmosphere plays an important role in the water cycle. Earth would also experience extreme temperatures, with very hot days and extremely cold nights.
• The atmosphere protects Earth from harmful solar radiation and meteoroids. Without it, the surface of Earth would be exposed to dangerous radiation and frequent meteor impacts.
• Thus, the atmosphere is essential for life, suitable temperatures, weather and protection of Earth.
