Loss = x − 24
Loss percent = `"Loss"/"Cost Price" xx 100`
`(x-24)/x xx 100 = x`
100(x − 24) = x2
100x − 2400 = x2
x2 − 100x + 2400 = 0
Factor:
(x − 40) (x − 60) = 0
x = 40 or x = 60
If cost price were ₹ 60, loss % would be very high and not realistic for such problems.
Cost Price = ₹ 40
