उत्तर
- The word 'communication' is derived from the Latin word 'communis,' which means common. If a person communicates with another, he establishes a common understanding.
- Communication is the exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, or emotions between two or more people to create a common understanding.
- Communication may, therefore, be defined as sharing information and ideas so as to create mutual understanding between people.
- Communication does not mean merely sending or receiving messages. It also involves understanding. It is, in fact, a bridge of meaning and understanding between two or more people. Thus, communication is a two-way process.
- According to Newman and Summers, "Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions by two or more persons". This definition indicates that communication is much more than transmitting information. It involves giving and receiving messages and the message may contain not only facts but opinions and emotions too.
