The President appoints the Prime Minister and, acting on the Prime Minister’s advice, appoints the other ministers. The President also appoints the Governors of States, the Chief Justice and judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, as well as important officials like the Election Commissioners, ambassadors, and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
