उत्तर

Selling price of each cooler = ₹ 3990

Let ₹ x be the cost price of both coolers for Ashima.

If Ashima gets 5% gain on transaction of first cooler.

Then, `3990 = x + x xx 5/100`  ...[∵ Profit = SP – CP]

⇒ `3990 = (21x)/20`

⇒ `x = (3990 xx 20)/21`

= 190 × 20

= ₹ 3800

Also, on the another transaction of other cooler she has a loss of 5%.

Then, `3990 = x - (x xx 5)/100`   ...[∵ Loss = CP – SP]

⇒ `3990 = (19x)/20`

⇒ `x = (3990 xx 20)/19`

= 210 × 20

= ₹ 4200

So, the total cost price for Ashima  = ₹ 3800 + ₹ 4200 = ₹ 8000

Ashima sold both coolers = ₹ 3990 × 2 = ₹ 7980

Here, CP > SP.

So, Ashima has loss on overall transaction.

∵ Loss = ₹ 8000 –  ₹ 7980 = ₹ 20

∵ Loss % = `20/8000 xx 100`

= `2000/8000`

= `1/4%`

= 0.25%
