Materials required to set up kitchen garden includes spade, shovel, seeds of crop plant, manure, plant and animal waste, water source, water can, khurpi and sickle.

Steps involved in planning kitchen garden are:

1. We will plough the field using spade which will break big lumps of soil and would help in loosening the soil. With the help of shovel we can remove rocks and soil lumps to one side.
2. We will add manure before sowing. It will help in enriching the soil with nutrients. We can also use plant and animal wastes.
3. We will sprinkle seeds of crop plant into the soil by hand.
4. We will irrigate our garden using water can which will provide just the adequate amount of water to the plants and help prevent water logging in the garden.
5. With the help of khurpi, we will remove any unwanted plant that will grow along with our crop plant.
6. We will protect our crop until maturity and then we will harvest the crop using sickle.
