The Delhi Sultanate began after Muhammad Ghori’s victory at the Second Battle of Tarain (1192), which weakened Rajput power; his Turkish slaves became viceroys, and after Ghori’s death in 1206 Qutb al‑Din Aibak seized control and founded the Mamluk (Slave) dynasty in Delhi.
