उत्तर

Both Julius Caesar and A Shady Plot use the supernatural, but for very different purposes and effects on the plot and characters.

In Julius Caesar, the supernatural creates tension and foreshadows tragedy. The soothsayer’s warning, “Beware the Ides of March,” Calpurnia’s prophetic dream, and other unnatural signs reflect political chaos and impending doom. These omens are treated seriously, symbolising fate and inner conflict. Caesar’s fatal decision to ignore these warnings drives the plot toward his assassination.

In contrast, A Shady Plot portrays the supernatural humorously. The ghost Helen appears not to scare but to complain about authors misusing ghosts in stories. Her presence satirises the writing profession and influences John Hallock’s behaviour as he tries to meet her demands, creating comic situations.

Thus, while Julius Caesar uses the supernatural to highlight ambition and destiny, A Shady Plot uses it for humour and irony. In both works, supernatural elements shape character actions and move the plot forward.
