प्रश्न
A sound wavelength of 0.332 m has a time period of 10−3 s. If the time period is decreased to 10−4 s, calculate the wavelength and frequency of the new wave.
What could be done to stop the violent vibrations?

उत्तर
Wavelength = λ = 0.332 m
Time period = T = 10−3 s
Frequency = `1/"T"=1/10^-3` = 103 Hz.
Now the time period is decreased and is now 10−4 s.
∴ New frequency = `1/10^4` = 10−4 Hz,
Speed of sound, V = f × λ = 103 × 0.332
= 332 m/s
Since speed remains the same
∴ New wavelength, λ = `"V"/"f"=332/10^4` = 0.0332 m.
