| Today the human index of most countries in the world is drawn. Three basic factors (health, education and living standards) are considered when measuring human development performance and the country's growth. Life expectancy at birth is first taken into account to measure the 'health of the people' in the country. Countries with higher life expectancy are ranked higher in merit and countries with lower life expectancy are ranked lower. The Human Development Index measures the level of knowledge of a country. The second component of the index is the measure of adult literacy and enrolment of students from primary to university level. The third factor is considered to be the standard of living of the country in the Human Development Index. Countries with high standard of living rank higher in merit, while countries with low standard of living rank lower.
