उत्तर
Temperature is a fundamental environmental factor that controls physical and chemical processes and therefore strongly influences biological activity and ecosystem distributions.
Biologically, most organisms have a narrow optimum temperature range: temperature affects metabolism, enzyme activity, growth and reproduction, and prolonged extremes can be lethal; however, some microbes possess biochemical adaptations allowing them to live in very high temperatures (e.g., > 100°C).
Ecologically, temperature helps define climate zones (tropical, temperate, and arctic), determine which plants and animals can thrive in an area, and drive behaviors such as migration, hibernation, and aestivation.
Physically, temperature changes alter phase (melting or boiling), density, viscosity, and rates of diffusion; so even small temperature shifts can produce large effects across chemical, biological, and physical systems.
