उत्तर

Molecular nitrogen is not particularly reactive because:

  1. It has a very strong triple bond (N ≡ N) between the two nitrogen atoms.
  2. The bond dissociation enthalpy is very high (941.4 kJ/mol), so breaking the bond requires a lot of energy.
  3. There are no vacant d-orbitals in nitrogen to expand its bonding capacity.
  4. At room temperature, nitrogen is very stable and unreactive due to this strong bond.

Hence, nitrogen is less reactive compared to other elements like phosphorus that have weaker bonds.
