उत्तर
In the laboratory, dinitrogen is prepared by heating an aqueous solution of ammonium chloride and sodium nitrite.
\[\ce{NH4Cl_{(aq)} + NaNO2_{(aq)} ->[Heat] NaCl_{(aq)} + 2H2O_{(l)} + N2_{(g)}}\]
This reaction also produces trace amounts of nitric acid (HNO3) and nitric oxide (NO). By passing the developed gas through an aqueous sulphuric acid solution containing potassium dichromate, the resulting dinitrogen is purified.
