उत्तर
In heterogeneous catalysis, a catalyst works by providing a surface where reactant molecules are adsorbed via chemisorption. These molecules become concentrated and weakened at active sites on the catalyst’s surface, facilitating their interaction to form an activated complex. This lowers the activation energy, allowing the reaction to proceed more rapidly. The product molecules then desorb, freeing the catalyst surface for new reactants, while the catalyst remains chemically unchanged throughout the process.
