Everything that surrounds us,air, water, soil, plants, animals, etc.,is referred to as our environment. The natural environment and the built environment are the two categories of environments. Climate change, pollution, deforestation, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss are examples of environmental degradation brought on by economic development at the expense of the environment. The United Nations recognised the importance of protecting the environment and held conferences such as the Conference on Human Environment (1972), the Brundtland Commission (1983), the Conference on Environment and Development (1992), the Earth Summit (2002), and the Rio Earth Summit, also known as Rio+20 (2012). The Brundtland Commission provided the most crucial idea for a different strategy for economic development: sustainable development. Given the current state of the globalised world, environmental protection is critically important. Every individual can begin safeguarding the environment by taking modest steps, such as turning off lights when not in use, avoiding plastic, not discarding trash anywhere, ceasing water waste, and adopting the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle).
