उत्तर
Following steps are involved in separation of iron filings, chalk powder and common salt:
- At first, a magnet is moved on a mixture of iodine, iron fillings and salt. Due to the magnetic property of iron, iron fillings are separated by the magnet.
- As all the iron is removed, the mixture now contains iodine and salt. Iodine sublimes on heating but salt does not. So, on heating the mixture, we obtain the vapours of iodine.
- Vapours of iodine are condensed in a cold apparatus. Salt remains behind as residue. Therefore, the components of mixture get separated.
