उत्तर

Electronic configuration of divalent metal ion.

M (25) = 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 4s2, 3d5

M2+ = 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 3d5

Number of unpaired electrons = 5

Calculation of magnetic moment

∴ n = number of unpaired electrons

i.e., μ = `sqrt(n(n + 2))`

= `sqrt(5(5 + 2))`

= 5.92 BM.
