  1. The Krebs cycle was proposed by Sir Hans Krebs. This cycle bears his name. It is also referred to as the tricarboxylic acid cycle or the citric acid cycle.
  2. The acetyl-coenzyme-A molecules enter the mitochondria located in the cytoplasm.
  3. They take part in the chemical processes that make up the Krebs cycle.
  4. The cyclic chemical processes result in the full oxidation of acetyl coenzyme A.
  5. It yields molecules of CO2, H2O, NADH2, FADH2 and ATP upon complete oxidation.
